Archbishop offers guideposts, ideas for 'spiritual closeness' during pandemic
"While necessary to avoid the spread of coronavirus, “social distancing” doesn’t have to mean spiritual distancing, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron said in a new message to the faithful of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Limit of 10 or fewer people at funerals and weddings
As recommended yesterday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), public gatherings should be limited to 10 or fewer people for the next 15 days. To ensure that we are in alignment with these guidelines, attendance at weddings and funerals must be limited to no more than 10 people through March 30. Read more.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we continue to receive reports about the spread of the Coronavirus in our communities, I write to you today wit some news that may be difficult to hear. After consultation with health care professionals and government officials, I am temporarily suspending all public Masses in the Archdiocese of Detroit until Monday, April 6.

SJA Parish schedule changes

Note that Stations of the Cross will NOT be open tonight but will be streamed live on our website. Please visit the homepage. Streaming begins at 7 pm tonight. Our Lenten Reflection Series talks after Stations will be postponed to a later date TBD.
All Athletic events and practices are canceled at this time. -
Confirmation will be rescheduled

Receiving the Eucharist
As Msgr. Mike and Fr. John have shared at all masses recently - The faithful always have the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue but ask as an act of charity and generosity to receive Holy Communion on the hand.

Letter from Archbishop Vigneron
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I write to assure you of my prayers during this distressing time. As people of God, we must be united in prayer and united in hope. I invite you to pray for health care workers, first responders, and all who are and will offer compassionate service and healing in the days to come. Above all, let us pray for those who are ill with the Coronavirus, for their healing and comfort, and strength and peace for their families. Let us also pray for those who have died because of the virus. People of prayer are never helpless – never hopeless.
We also must be prudent as the virus spreads. Let us rely on the good judgement of health care officials and government leaders. We have announced steps in the Archdiocese of Detroit to prevent and limit the spread of the virus at our parishes and schools, and please know that we continue to carefully monitor the situation in southeast Michigan and throughout the world. We are following the guidance of local, state, and federal government and health officials.

Letter from Superintendent of Catholic Schools
Dear Catholic School Parents and Guardians,
Late last night, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that in order to slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), she has ordered the closure of all K-12 school buildings, public, private, and boarding, to all students starting Monday, March 16 until Sunday, April 5. School buildings are scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 6.
